I have been a LibriVox fan since just after it's beginning, I remember when the th book was uploaded. LibriVox is a fantastic resource, it's only problem up until now was the faff involved in downloading zip files and importing to iTunes, with until quite recently also having to search for a good image to use for the cover art.
The app solves all of these problems. Like some other reviewers, I payed for the 'pro' version, not because the adverts were annoying but as a demonstration of support. The content of thousands of books of all genres is free. People have spent a great deal of there own time narrating these stories, poems and textbooks.

Listening to that many hours of books per week would become very expensive on other subscription based platforms. Only downside is the ads played at the end of each chapter. The ads momentarily take you out of the immersive world of the book, but I understand the need for them. The voices help liven up the texts and make difficult works much easier to follow. Luckily, you can work around them by tapping on the next chapter, but having to do so feels unnecessary.
I wish they would have just stuck to having a small visual ad at the bottom of the page. That said, Librivox is still my go-to reader, and it is very helpful overall. Large library. Most of the recordings sound fine to me, and the organization of the app is impressive for a free download. Really, the only detraction for me is the ads, but they have to make money somehow..
